Bespoke Tour / Bespoke Experience

Which side of Japan's allure will you experience first?

Two ways into the same pursuit — a layered immersion in a single city, or a sweeping journey across regions. Both are built around you, one enquiry at a time.

What We Believe

Japan's Best-Kept Culture, Brought Into View

We work with artisans, chefs, and quiet keepers of tradition who rarely open their doors to visitors — and build each day around a single idea: hidden, luxury, authentic. Not staged for tour groups, not simplified for convenience. The real thing, made accessible only through a personal introduction.

Hidden

Access rarely extended beyond a personal introduction

Luxury

Entirely private, shaped around you alone

Authentic

The practice itself, not a demonstration of it
Bespoke Experience · Bespoke Tour

How much time do you have?

Hands chasing a pattern into silver at a Tokyo workshop
Bespoke Experience · one day

A day you will still be describing years from now.

One Interest, Many Layers

The Same Thread, Followed All the Way Through

A single interest rarely stays in one lane — so neither do we. Every day we build follows one thread through several layers, not a single isolated activity.
Drawn to Food Culture
Learn a traditional technique from the maker themselves — one many modern Japanese have never encountered
Taste that craft at a table chosen around it, later the same day
Drawn to Craft
Visit the workshop behind a bowl, a blade, or a piece of lacquerware
Eat from the same kind of ware you watched being made
Drawn to What You Wear
Begin with your own hands in the dye
Spend the afternoon in kimono, seeing the craft from the wearer's side
Drawn to Performance
Learn the basics of a traditional form from the family that keeps it
See the form performed when a performance falls on your dates, knowing what you are watching

These are sample combinations to illustrate the idea — the actual pairing depends on which suppliers and traditions are available on your dates.

From First Message to the Day

How a day or a journey comes together.

Every Bespoke Experience and Bespoke Tour begins the same way: with a conversation, not a booking form.

  1. 01You write to us

    Tell us what draws you

A craft, a region, a season, or simply a feeling you want to chase. When you might come, and who is travelling. A few sentences are enough.

  2. 02Within three business days

    A travel designer replies personally

Not an automated sequence. The person who answers is the person who will shape your days.

  3. 03A conversation

    We listen before we suggest

A call at a time that suits you: your interests, your pace, how you like to eat, and what you would rather avoid.

  4. 04A first idea

A shape for the day or the week

Which masters, which places, where the quiet hours fall. A first sketch to react to, not a fixed package.

  5. 05Shaped together

Adjusted until it feels like yours

We change the order, the pace and the people until it fits. Each master’s availability is confirmed with them before anything is settled.

  6. 06Before you arrive

A short briefing on each tradition

What you will see, how to behave in a workshop or a tea room, and why it matters, so that on the day you know what you are looking at.

  7. 07The days themselves

    The masters at the centre

An English-speaking guide on the days with the masters, one master at the centre of each layer, and time left open on purpose.

FAQ

Can I receive a personalized itinerary through an online consultation?
Yes. A travel designer will arrange a private online conversation to understand your interests, your pace and what you would rather avoid, and shape a first idea from there.
I don’t speak Japanese—will I be able to enjoy the experience?
Yes. On the days with the masters and on travel days, an English-speaking guide is with you, so every conversation in the workshop reaches you in full.
Are your tours and experiences suitable for all ages?
Most days can be shaped for any age. If a workshop asks for particular physical conditions or has an age guideline, we will tell you when we first suggest it.
How far in advance should I get in touch?
As early as you comfortably can. Each day is arranged individually around the masters' own schedules, so the more notice we have, the more we can shape around you. Short-notice enquiries are welcome too — we will simply tell you honestly what is still possible.
Do you offer options for families or small private groups?
Certainly. Whether you are marking an occasion or travelling with people you love, a day or a journey can be shaped around your group's interests, size and pace, always in private, never shared.
